Shore Runners Summer 2026 Registration is Live!
Shore Runners Youth Running Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2017. We are dedicated to introducing the sport of running to young people in the shoreline CT area.
We encourage all rising 3rd-8th graders to join us for biweekly practices where we host group runs, relays, races, core/strength training, and more. Please visit www.shorerunners.org to see our mission statement and to register!
Typically(check the Calendar Page) we meet on Tuesdays at Baldwin Middle School on the back blacktop and on Thursday at the Guilford High School(GHS) track.
Practices begin the last week of June or First Week of July each Summer. Typically we meet 5:30-6:15 PM on Tuesday and Thursday. We believe that warm-ups are important for injury prevention, therefore we encourage runners to arrive on time.
Water, water, water! We will have emergency water available (Coaches always have a jug) but it is subject to running out.
Running shoes. We encourage supporting small local businesses such as Sound Runner in Branford and Old Saybrook.
A good attitude. We as a club emphasize that ANY runner of ANY ability level is welcome to join us as long as they are willing to learn and work with their coaches and fellow runners.
All of our coaches are high school and college student athletes who volunteer their time to join us for the summer. Many of the coaches run for GHS cross country/track & field, while others have competed for Brandeis University, Case Western Reserve University, Cornell University, Harvey Mudd College, Lebanon Valley College, Vassar College and the list continues to grow. We are happy to report that a portion of our coaches participated in Shore Runners themselves and now have returned to help younger runners develop.
As a non-profit organization, participation in Shore Runners requires a $10(subject to change) registration fee per runner that entirely goes towards program expenses. Donations to the program are greatly appreciated and can be made on our website.
Absolutely not!!!! We have worked with runners who
come to practices never having run all the way up to
those who regularly compete in road races. We have
enough coaches to ensure that no child is left on their
own regardless of their ability.
At every practice, there will be at least one coach who has CPR/AED and first aid training. On the registration form, allergies for each runner can be indicated and coaches will be given this information. There will always be a first aid kit on hand and an emergency contact will be called with the phone number provided on the registration form in the case. of an emergency. In terms of COVID-19 and other Air-Born disease measures, all runners are encouraged to wear a mask if that is what their parent/guardian deems appropriate. All workouts can be adjusted by coaches to account for mask-wearing to ensure that the runner has a safe and meaningful experience.
You can email Info@ShoreRunners.org with any questions. Registration specific questions can be addressed to Treasurer@shorerunners.org. Messaging through our Facebook page is also an option, but responses may be delayed.
